LEADING THAI CHEF SUJET SAENKHAM OPENS SURRY HILLS EATING HOUSE
Along with his partner, Padet Nagsalab, renowned Thai chef, Sujet Saenkham has just opened a new restaurant in Surry Hills, The Surry Hills Eating House.
The very talented pair are co-owners of the outstanding chain of Spice I am restaurants and, at the Surry Hills Eating House, the menu offers different influences to the authentic Thai of Spice I am. Here Sujit’s menu reflects a stronger regional Thai influence with food that is of a lighter style.
The menu provides a variety of fresh seafood and delicious dishes from the coastal regions of southern Thailand.
Designed with Chinese and Malay influences, each dish features fresh, locally sourced produce – most grown on Sujet's farm in the Southern Highlands – and offers an eclectic, diverse range of light innovative dishes.
Other interesting new offerings are those from Phuket.
Amongst other dishes we enjoyed, the prawn cake salad was amazing. The dish provided a delicious entrée and the deep fried prawn cake was served with a mixed green salad and a light chilli fish sauce dressing.
To follow we had some steamed black mussels in a spicy tomato based sauce with green basil and flat leaf parsley along with a dish of Moo Hong – a Chinese Phuket style braised pork belly with five spice and dark soy sauce.
The restaurant the interior is light, airy and spacious and, with a series of interconnecting rooms, it has a relaxed, casual vibe. The staff are young and friendly and the menu prices are affordable.
The restaurant is licensed with wine, beer and all beverages available from the restaurant bar or the hotel below.
