Pacifica’s Puerto 27
When you think of San Fransisco you don't immediately think of beaches. Normally attractions such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and Lombard Street spring to mind. However, if after all the sightseeing you fancy some down time we can certainly recommend the stunning little beachfront town of Pacifica. It's just 15 minutes south of San Francisco and there is plenty to do and see.
And apart from great, inexpensive accommodation and a captivating little shopping centre, it has a bustling food scene.
On our latest visit to this stunning area, we discovered Puerto 27, a Peruvian Kitchen and Pisco Bar that is perfect any time of day or night. We enjoyed a long, leisurely lunch, and the views are stunning.
For starters, there is a selection of seasonal oysters, a wide variety of Cevicheria (including Ceviche Chifa, featuring Ahi tuna, red onions, avocado peanuts, scallions, pickled daikon and plantain chips); Salads (including their Puerto salad with a sublime passion fruit dressing); Piqueos (share plates); Flame grilled Peruvian street style skewers and an amazing selection of beef, poultry, seafood and vegetarian dishes.
You will certainly be spoiled for choice, and if in a group, there will be something to delight everyone – the pasta is especially good.
Our meal, which also included a 'Julio Cesar' salad that was a salute to the original, had a great twist – romaine lettuce, candied walnuts, feta cheese, croutons and tomato all tossed in a huacatay caesar dressing.
The restaurant is proud that it supports local farms, prepares organically grown ingredients and comply's with the local area's seafood watch program to support sustainability in the industry.
The address is 525 Crespi Dri, Pacifica, CA 94044, and the restaurant and bar are open from 11am until late each day. The bar even has a happy hour – or hours as it's from 3pm till 6pm – Monday to Friday.
Make sure this restaurant is on your list of must do's.
Goddess Tip:
Beware, the portions are large, they are too delicious, and you won't want to leave anything!
