Whether you’re a new visitor to Sydney, or a local looking for a great meal, we know you will thank us for this restaurant find.
Tucked into a small side street, just a short stroll down the road from the El Alamein Memorial Fountain in Kings Cross, Lot.One restaurant in Sydney’s Potts Point is an absolute winner.
Lot.One is the perfect place to dine and enjoy fabulous, fresh, local, seasonal food. And, if cocktails are your thing, then we definitely suggest you get a group of friends together and enjoy some amazing signature cocktails at their elegant marble-topped cocktail bar.
Lot.One is already a mecca for the discerning locals, and on our visit the restaurant is busy but still had a great laid-back vibe. It’s a warm, tactile, modern space, with an exposed brickwork interior, which also features a fabulous private room along with a romantic window space ideal for up to 6 friends.
There are four entrepreneurial owners headed by restaurateur Michael Bradley and Head Chef Xenia Jade. Chef Jade has created an adventurous modern Australian menu with bold Mediterranean flavours and had previously secured a following at Jonahs Palm Beach, the Fig Tree Byron and Sake City (Rockpool Dining Group).
“As always, the menu here at Lot.one will evolve around the use of fresh seasonal produce. The dishes will emanate from what is available and sustainable as we move through the warmer months. Dishes will be implemented to the menu from around mid-October and will be light and vibrant, yet still pack a flavour punch.” Xenia Jade.
The wine list is well balanced with a focus on quality Australian regional wines complemented by premium international varietals and many are available by the glass. The cocktail list has everything from the classic Negroni and nostalgic New York mixers to one of the best Espresso Martini's we've tried in Sydney. Another, the Pornstar Martini, with Vodka, passionfruit with a side hint of Prsecco was also delicious.
There are so many great dishes and as we love sharing this is the way we went. The seasonal oysters were delicious and freshly shucked, the Wagyu Carpaccio was stunning and a sensational Duck Liver Parfait finished off our starters. For mains, the Brussel sprouts with guanciale and cured egg yolk, along with hot, crispy fries with truffle and parmesan, and a slow cooked Wagu beef cheek dish almost left us with no room for dessert.
Who are we kidding! We were always going to stick with our plan and again share. Their Turkish delight rhubarb & rose gelato, served with a white chocolate crumb, apple, toasted marshmallow, pistachio and fairy floss was simply, sublime. To finish we enjoyed a well thought through cheese plate featuring four seasonal cheeses and accompaniments all served with house made lavosh.
A final word from co-owner Michael Tama…
" Diners seem to love the Oz/Mediterranean menu; Edwin Brown’s cocktails are awesome and have been a big hit with our customers. After two years in the city we are loving the Potts Point neighbourhood and the casual vibe."
